Dear Daddy,

I am sure that everyone thinks their father is the best. At the risk of being cliche, I really want to write this post. I also have a wonderful and amazing mother. I didn't think of this as much in May (for Mother's Day), but I really want to let everyone I know know, how incredible my father is. He is a great person with many good qualities. However, what makes him the best is the great father he is. I am so blessed to have a good relationship with my dad. He has made such an effort to be close to me and be someone I can count on. Even though he is not perfect, I know he tries so hard. He is someone who I can always talk to, get advice from and rely on for support. He is proud of me and let's me know how special he thinks I am. I used to get frustrated when I couldn't find myself a husband....however, I know that the reason I am so close with my dad is because I needed him more in those years before I found Scott.

The other day I was looking for poems and quotes about fathers for my students' Father's Day projects. I found this one that honestly made me cry...it describes exactly how I feel about my dad.

"Everything Dad"

A little girl needs her daddy

To love her with manly charm,

To soothe her when she’s hurt,

And keep her safe from harm.


A girl needs her dad

To show her a man who’s good,

To help her make right choices,

As only a father could.


A woman needs her father

Just to be aware,
